So I decided that my next post would be about skin care. Now, I am not expert so please don't take my word as gospel! However, I have suffered from cystic acne, not breakouts which are different, since I was about 11. I am now 19 and have slowly got control over it. So this is what has worked for me, but before you do anything too hasty, check with your medical practitioner.
1) Work out what type of skin you have. Dry, Combo or Oily are the main three. I'll leave a test that will help you work out what type you are. https://www.nivea.com.au/experience/face-care/skin-consultant
2) Keep hydrated! I know this sounds like an old wives tale, but keeping you skin hydrated by drinking water, will honestly make such a difference. It will brighter up your skin and encourage healing.
3) ALWAYS wash your face! Never skip this! I, personally, wash my face in the morning and then at night in summer and in winter I wash it once at night. Work out what suits you and your skin type.
4) Find a cleanser that works for you. So for me, I can't use sometime that is too harsh due to the fact I have Combo skin. Most cleanser will say what type of skin they work best for, but finding a cleanser that works for you, will help in a huge way!
5) Moisture you skin! It doesn't matter what skin type you have, moisturizing you skin will help it! It makes sense for dry skin but for Oily or Combo skin, your face is producing extra oil because its dry, so by adding moisturizing into you routine you will see a change in your skin.
6) Try not to pick or play with your skin because you adding to the bacteria that will go into your pores. Trust me, I know how much self-control it takes but you will see a difference if you don't touch your skin as much.
7) Wear sunscreen, either alone or under your makeup. This will help protect your skin and in years to come, you will thank yourself.
8)) ALWAYS wash off your makeup! Leaving it on your skin is just asking for trouble. Also, wash your makeup brushes. If someone had told me this at 16, I would have thank the heavens. Leaving them dirty is just like a breeding ground for bacteria.
Now, you don't have to buy the most expensive item in the shop, some of the best things that work for me are some of the cheaper items. I'll leave a list of things that work for me and the prices.
Once again, if you are unsure, go to your medical practitioner!
